Legends Win 2019 NEWBL Title

The Appleton Legends are your 2019 Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League champions.

The Appleton Legends weathered a push by Menasha Macs in the fourth inning where Appleton coughed up three runs, but the Legends still won 7-4 on Thursday, clinching the NEWBL title over Menasha.

Appleton got things started in the first inning. An error scored one run for Appleton Legends.

Tyler Gronert was the winning pitcher for Appleton. He allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three. BJ Chase threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Chase recorded the last six outs to earn the save.

Jason Wierschke took the loss for Menasha. He surrendered six runs on six hits over two innings, striking out two and walking zero.

Grant Ver Voort started the game for Appleton. He allowed five hits and four runs over four innings, striking out three

Appleton racked up ten hits in the game. Tony KruegerJohn Hendrick, and Bryce Cross each managed multiple hits.

Menasha tallied nine hits on the day. Adam GrambowBerbenColin Englebert, and Beauchamp all managed multiple hits.

Sheboygan Clinches Lead in Seventh to Defeat Green Bay

Sheboygan snatched the lead late in the game in a 9-6 victory over the Green Bay Storm on Tuesday. The game was tied at six with Sheboygan batting in the bottom of the seventh when Taisei Fukuhara doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Sheboygan collected ten hits and Green Bay had nine.

Sheboygan fired up the offense in the first inning, when Fukuhara hit a solo homer.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Sheboygan tied things up at six. Jake Falish drove in one when he doubled.

Green Bay scored three runs in the third inning. The big inning for Green Bay came thanks to a walk by Brett Reinhart and a double by Mike Cohen.

Eric Schmitz led the A’s to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He surrendered six runs on nine hits over nine innings, striking out 12 and walking one.

Cohen took the loss for the Storm. He went two-thirds of an inning, allowing one run on one hit and walking one.

Bryce Braspennickx started the game for the Storm. He surrendered five runs on six hits over four and a third innings, striking out seven

Sheboygan tallied two home runs on the day. Jake Arens went for the long ball in the third inning. Fukuhara had a four bagger in the first inning.

Sheboygan scattered ten hits in the game. Fukuhara and Falish each racked up multiple hits. Fukuhara went 3-for-4 at the plate.Green Bay Storm tallied nine hits on the day. Brad SzymusiakMarcus Rauschenbach, and Hunter Larsonall collected multiple hits for Green Bay Storm.

A’s Run Past Legends 8-1

The Sheboygan A’s easily dispatched the Appleton Legends 8-1 on Wednesday

In the first inning, Sheboygan got their offense started. Jimmy Juergensen doubled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring one run.

The A’s put up four runs in the second inning, led by Jake Falish and Juergensen, who all drove in runs.

Brendan Bille led the Sheboygan A’s to victory on the mound. He allowed two hits and zero runs over six and a third innings, striking out five. Kyle Moyer and Ben Folger entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Tyler Gronert took the loss for Appleton. He allowed eight hits and seven runs over four innings, striking out four.

Sheboygan tallied 11 hits in the game. JuergensenFalish, and Ross Krist all had multiple hits. Juergensen led the team with three hits in four at-bats.

Aaron Moody went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Appleton Legends in hits.

Appleton Legends Clinches Lead In Eighth Inning To Defeat Green Bay Storm

The Appleton Legends snatched the lead late in the game in a 6-3 victory over Green Bay on Tuesday. With one out in the bottom of the eighth Cam Crawford induced Zach Sheldon to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Appleton got on the board in the second inning. Trent Blake singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run.

Appleton knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the seventh inning. Bryce Cross drove in one when he singled.

Jason Malkowski led the Legends to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He allowed zero hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three and walking one.

Zach Watzka took the loss for Green Bay. He allowed eight hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out six and walking zero.

Evan Sankey started the game for Appleton. He lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and three runs while striking out nine and walking one

Appleton collected nine hits on the day. Ryan BrouchTony Krueger, and Cross each had multiple hits for Appleton LegendsCrossKrueger, and Brouch each managed two hits to lead Appleton Legends.

Green Bay tallied seven hits on the day. Marcus Rauschenbach and Brett Reinhart each racked up multiple hits for Green BayRauschenbach went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Storm in hits.
