The Appleton Legends are your 2019 Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League champions.
The Appleton Legends weathered a push by Menasha Macs in the fourth inning where Appleton coughed up three runs, but the Legends still won 7-4 on Thursday, clinching the NEWBL title over Menasha.
Appleton got things started in the first inning. An error scored one run for Appleton Legends.
Tyler Gronert was the winning pitcher for Appleton. He allowed two hits and zero runs over three innings, striking out three. BJ Chase threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen. Chase recorded the last six outs to earn the save.
Jason Wierschke took the loss for Menasha. He surrendered six runs on six hits over two innings, striking out two and walking zero.
Grant Ver Voort started the game for Appleton. He allowed five hits and four runs over four innings, striking out three
Appleton racked up ten hits in the game. Tony Krueger, John Hendrick, and Bryce Cross each managed multiple hits.
Menasha tallied nine hits on the day. Adam Grambow, Berben, Colin Englebert, and Beauchamp all managed multiple hits.
