Appleton Legends sweep Green Bay Storm

The Appleton Legends swept a doubleheader against the Green Bay Storm on Wednesday, winning 13-4 and 9-1.

APPLETON, WI – The Appleton Legends swept a doubleheader against the Green Bay Storm on Wednesday, winning 13-4 and 9-1.

With the two wins, the Legends have a half-game lead over the Menasha Macs in the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League. The Legends are 14-5 in the league with one game remaining while the Macs are 13-5 with two games remaining against Marinette.

Courtney Watkins, Trent Whitcomb and Matt Baehman each had three hits in the first game, with Watkins hitting a three-run home run.

Tim Harikkala pitched the first four innings to get the win, while Luke Watson struck out seven batters in three innings of relief.
B.J. Chase allowed one run in six innings in the second game, striking out eight batters.

Matt DeYoung had two RBI in the second game for the Legends (26-8 overall).
