The road to the 2026 Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League championship begins tonight with two quarterfinal matchups, while regular-season champion Menasha has already secured its place in the title series.
The Macs captured the NEWBL regular-season championship with an 11-5 record, earning the No. 1 seed and a bye directly into the league’s best-of-three championship series, which begins Monday, August 3. Menasha will host Game 1 on Monday and, if necessary, Game 3 on Wednesday. The remaining playoff teams will battle over the next two nights for the opportunity to challenge the regular-season champions.
No. 2 Appleton (10-6) hosts No. 5 Kewaskum (4-12) tonight at 7:30 p.m. at USA Sports Complex. The Legends won the season series 4-0 and will look to defend their home field against a Kewaskum club hoping to pull off an upset.
At Wildwood Park, No. 3 Sheboygan (8-8) welcomes No. 4 Greenville (7-9) in what figures to be a tight contest. The Stars took three of four from the A’s in their regular-season meetings, setting the stage for a winner-take-all showdown at 7:30 p.m.
The winners of tonight’s games will meet Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the home field of the higher remaining seed. If Appleton advances, the semifinal will be played at USA Sports Complex. If Kewaskum upsets the Legends, Sheboygan or Greenville would host Wednesday’s game.
The semifinal winner will then advance to face Menasha in the NEWBL Championship Series, a best-of-three matchup scheduled for August 3-5. The higher-seeded Macs will host Game 1 on Monday and, if needed, the deciding Game 3 on Wednesday, while the lower-seeded finalist will host Game 2 on Tuesday.
With every game now win-or-go-home until the championship series, the chase for the NEWBL title officially begins tonight.
