Appleton built a commanding early lead and never looked back in a 10-3 victory over Kewaskum in the opener of a Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League doubleheader. After stranding a runner at second in the first inning, the Legends erupted for five runs in the second, highlighted by RBI hits from Brady Coons, Nick Verbeten, Alex Ramus, and Chris Vandenheuvel. Appleton added another run in the fourth on Vandenheuvel’s RBI single before breaking the game open in the fifth when Coons launched a three-run homer, his third hit of the day. The Legends capped the scoring with four more runs in the fifth and sixth innings, including an RBI single from Ramus, a run-scoring double by Cole Dornfeld, an RBI single from Bubba Thompson, and a sacrifice fly by Coons. Kewaskum mounted its only rally in the fifth as Cam Hoier delivered a two-run double and Nick Rosenthal followed with an RBI single, but the A’s could get no closer. Coons finished 3-for-3 with a home run, double, four RBIs, and three runs scored, while Ramus collected four hits, scored twice, and drove in two runs. Appleton totaled 15 hits in the win, while Hoier, Brody Nolan, and Rosenthal accounted for five of Kewaskum’s eight hits.

Appleton completed a doubleheader sweep of Kewaskum with a 10-0 victory in a five-inning contest. Chris Vandenheuvel provided the early offense with a two-run homer in the first inning, and the Legends extended their lead to 4-0 in the third on a Bubba Thompson RBI double and a sacrifice fly from Cole Dornfeld. Appleton broke the game open with a six-run fourth inning, taking advantage of walks, a hit batter, and a pair of Kewaskum errors. Peyton Just delivered a two-run single, Nick Verbeten added an RBI single, Brady Coons drove in a run with a base hit, and another run scored when Vandenheuvel reached on an error. Vandenheuvel finished 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBIs, and two runs scored, while Just went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and Thompson scored twice and drove in a run. Ethan Winkler tossed a five-hit shutout for the Legends, striking out seven and allowing just one walk. Kewaskum’s offense was limited to singles by Andres Finley, Jared Chesak, and Nolan Vincent in the loss.
