Macs, Stars Split Weeknight DH

Each team grabbed a victory over one another in a rare weeknight doubleheader.

Menasha walked it off in dramatic fashion, edging Greenville 6-5 on a sacrifice fly by Evan Olson in the bottom of the eighth. The Macs rallied twice in the final two innings, tying the game in the seventh and then responding to a Greenville go-ahead run with two of their own in the eighth. William Horener homered and drove in two, while Colin Nigl went 3-for-4 and scored the tying run. Menasha stole seven bases and totaled 12 hits in the win, with Griffin Klein earning the victory in relief.

Greenville exploded for 14 hits and pulled away with a five-run fourth inning to cruise past Menasha 12-1. Camden Kuhnke went 3-for-5 to lead the attack, while Griffin Jens drove in two and Brett Sommer also tallied three hits. Taiven Gass struck out eight over six strong innings to earn the win. The Stars played error-free defense and turned a double play to back their dominant effort. Evan Olson had two hits and Ryan Csida stole two bases for Menasha, who managed just one run on the day.

The Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League is a top-tier, wooden bat, adult semi-professional baseball league located in northeastern Wisconsin. Players in the league are considered amateur status, are not paid and consist mostly of current college baseball players, as well as former college and professional players.
