The Greensville Stars and Kewaskum A's split a Saturday doubleheader in NEWBL play.
Greenville Stars 14, Kewaskum A’s 4
Brett Sommer’s explosive performance, featuring two home runs and six RBIs, led the Greenville Stars to a decisive 14-4 victory over the Kewaskum A’s on Saturday in game one of their doubleheader. Sommer’s homers in the second and fourth innings were crucial in the Stars’ offensive onslaught. Greenville jumped ahead early with runs from Sommer and Connor Weigman in the first inning. Kewaskum briefly took the lead in the second with hits from Mike Prochnow, Issac Heerdink, Tanner Graham, and Thomas Otto. However, Sommer’s second-inning home run reclaimed the lead for Greenville. The Stars added nine more runs across the fourth and fifth innings. Chayce Schultz earned the win, allowing four runs over four innings with six strikeouts. The Stars accumulated 14 hits, with Sommer and Camden Kuhnke each collecting three.
Kewaskum A’s 6, Greenville Stars 3
Even though Greenville collected eight hits to Kewaskum’s seven, it was the A’s who picked up the 6-3 victory in game two Saturday. they still fell 6-3 on Saturday. Greenville opened the scoring in the third inning when Brett Sommer was hit by a pitch to drive in a run. They added two more runs in the sixth, including a solo home run by Connor Weigman and an RBI single by Jake Weigman. However, Kewaskum turned the game around in the top of the seventh, scoring six runs on four hits, with a key double by Josh Moses driving in three runs. Jake Sweet earned the win for Kewaskum. Moses led the team with three RBIs, going 2-for-3.
