Ethan Bergen’s impressive four-hit game propelled the Appleton Legends to a 5-2 victory over the Menasha Macs on Thursday at USA Sports Complex in Appleton. Bergen’s three doubles and one single highlighted the Legends’ offense. Nick Terrell’s sacrifice fly put the Legends on the board first, but the Macs briefly took the lead in the fifth inning with key hits from Luke Romnek and Jack McKellips. Alex Hanneman’s single tied the game for the Legends in the bottom of the fifth. Anthony Weyers’ walk in the seventh gave the Legends a 3-2 lead, which they extended to 5-2. Ian Johnson earned the win with four innings of scoreless relief. The Legends’ defense was solid, committing no errors and collecting 11 hits. The Menasha Macs were led by McKellips with two hits, while William Horener stole two bases. The Appleton Legends will face the Rapids Redhawks in their next game on Saturday.
