Marinette Redbirds fall to Green Bay Storm despite strong comeback

Despite allowing four runs in the third inning, the Green Bay Storm defeated the Marinette Redbirds 8-5 on Tuesday night.

GREEN BAY, WI- Despite allowing four runs in the third inning, the Green Bay Storm defeated the Marinette Redbirds 8-5 on Tuesday night.

The Storm took an early lead in the first inning, and were able to survive the big third inning by the Redbirds by scoring three runs of their own. Connor Yakel tripled off of Matt Hansen, driving in two runs in the inning for the Storm.

Mitch Eagan earned the win for the Storm. He went nine innings, allowing five runs, 11 hits, striking out five and walking one. Hansen took the loss for the Redbirds. He threw three innings, allowing six runs, eight hits and striking out three.

The Storm had a total of 13 hits in the game. Brown, Eric Erb and Derek Klegin each collected multiple hits for the Storm. Yakel and Kyle Mrozinski each drove in two runs to lead the team.

Jordan Rasner led the Redbirds offensively by going 3-for-4 on the night.

This win puts the Storm at 10-7 on the season thus far, while the Redbirds are 6-10.

The Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League is a top-tier, wooden bat, adult semi-professional baseball league located in northeastern Wisconsin. Players in the league are considered amateur status, are not paid and consist mostly of current college baseball players, as well as former college and professional players.
