Brian Brown and Jack Taschner combined to pitch a four-hitter as the Menasha Macs beat the Appleton Legends 5-2 on Tuesday at Sunset Park.
MENASHA, WI – Brian Brown and Jack Taschner combined to pitch a four-hitter as the Menasha Macs beat the Appleton Legends 5-2 on Tuesday at Sunset Park.
Brown pitched the first five innings, allowing three hits and two runs (one earned). Taschner pitched the final four innings to get the save, allowing one hit and striking out eight in the Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League game.
The Legends scored twice in the first inning as Evan Bohman hit an RBI double and Brady Stolzman knocked in a run with a sacrifice fly.
The Macs took the lead with a three-run fifth inning. Two runners reached base on walks, then with two outs Colin Englebert singled to center to drive in the first run and the second run scored when the ball skipped past the center fielder. Englebert advanced to third on the play and scored on a passed ball.
Menasha added two runs in the sixth inning. Ryan Hinske doubled with two outs and scored on a single by Griffin Jack. Emmett Kulick then singled to bring home Jack.
