Late score propels Green Bay Storm to victory over Sheboygan A’s

The Green Bay Storm left Sheboygan with a “W” Wednesday night, as they defeated the A’s 3-2.

SHEBOYGAN, WI- The Green Bay Storm left Sheboygan with a “W” Wednesday night, as they defeated the A’s 3-2.

The Storm took the lead during their first at-bats. The team scored one run when Stewart Larsen singled with two outs giving the Storm 1-0 advantage over the A’s.

The A’s evened things up in the bottom of the second when Brad Young hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.

The game was tied at one until the top of the sixth when the Storm’s Stewart Larsen hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run. The Storm then took the lead and kept it for the remainder of the game.

In terms of pitching, both teams had strong appearances. Storm pitchers struck out two, while the A’s sat down 14.

Chris Wolcanski earned the win for the Storm. He went eight innings, allowing two runs, nine hits, striking out two and walking one. Riley Spetz recorded the last three outs to earn the save.
Eric Schmitz took the loss for the A’s. He threw six innings, allowing two runs, five hits and striking out seven.

A’s players combined for a total of nine hits on the night. Mitchell Sutton, Chris Saltzman and Adam Ryan each collected multiple hits. Young and Hunter Berry each drove in one run to lead the team in RBI’s.

The Storm collected nine hits as well. Spetz, Tyler Brown and Larsen each collected multiple hits for the Storm. Spetz led the team going 3-for-5 at the plate.

The Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League is a top-tier, wooden bat, adult semi-professional baseball league located in northeastern Wisconsin. Players in the league are considered amateur status, are not paid and consist mostly of current college baseball players, as well as former college and professional players.
