MARINETTE, WI. The Marinette Redbirds fell behind early and couldn’t recover resulting in a 3-0 loss to the Green Bay Storm on Wednesday.
The Storm scored in the first inning on a groundout by Derek Klegin.
The pitching was strong on both sides. Storm pitchers struck out 12, while the Redbirds sat down two.
Jake McMahon earned the win for the Storm. He threw eight and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs, one hit and striking out 12. Matt Hansen took the loss for the Redbirds. He tossed nine innings, allowing three runs, six hits and striking out two.
Wesli Rivera went 1-for-4 at the plate to lead the Redbirds.
The Storm collected six hits. Hunter Larson and Ethan Bartels each collected multiple hits for the team. The Storm committed zero errors in the field. Connor Yakel made the most plays, with a total of 12.
