Appleton Legends outslug Macs for league win

The Appleton Legends backed the solid pitching of Tim Harikkala with 11 hits Wednesday night to pound out a 6-2 Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League win over the Menasha Macs at Koslo Park.

MENASHA – The Appleton Legends backed the solid pitching of Tim Harikkala with 11 hits Wednesday night to pound out a 6-2 Northeastern Wisconsin Baseball League win over the Menasha Macs at Koslo Park.

Brady Stolzman and Chris Erm had two hits apiece for the Legends, while Harikkala struck out five in pitching seven innings to pick up the mound win.

The Legends grabbed a quick lead with three runs in the third inning and never looked back. Erm drove in the first run with an RBI single, while Trent Whitcomb added a two-out, two-run single.

The Legends added a run in the fourth and two more in the seventh on an RBI single by Courtney Watkins and an RBI double by Jordy Plamann.

Menasha (14-6) scored both of its run in the bottom of the ninth on a double by Alex Duros and a two-run single by Zach Bayreuther.

Ryan Hinske, Alex Duros and Mike Berben had two hits apiece for the Macs (14-6 overall).
