APPLETON – The Sheboygan A’s rallied from deficits of 3-0 and 5-4 to score five runs in the seventh inning and run away to an 11-5 Northeastern Wisconsin league victory.

The win puts the A’s at 3-0 in the league. They play another NEWBL game at Manitowoc tonight. Taylor Schwarz (UNC-Greensboro Alum) is scheduled to pitch.

Starter Weston Nelson (UW-Stevens Point), who has been a rock for the A’s pitching staff, ran into some control issues early that helped Appleton take a 3-0 lead after two innings. Trevor Cho’s (St. Cloud St.) RBI single in the third and an Appleton error in the fourth brought the A’s to 3-2. Then they took a brief 4-3 lead in the top of the fourth on four straight hits by Wyatt Olson (Indian Hills), Cole Heili (UW-Milwaukee), Taylor Grimm (UW-Oshkosh) and Nate Heili (UW-La Crosse).

After Appleton tied it in the fifth and went ahead 5-4 in the sixth, the A’s rocked Appleton pitching for five runs in the seventh and single tallies in the eighth and ninth to put the game away at 11-5. Cole Heili’s long 2-run home run and RBI hits by Adam Ryan (Marian University), Hunter Berry (Marian University) and Dylan Detert (UW-Milwaukee) drove in runs in the big inning.

Cole Heili finished with a 4-for-6 night with two runs scored, four RBIs a double and home run. Detert and Olson had three hits, and Cho and Mitch McConnell (Upper Iowa University) both two.

Middle reliever Ben Folger (Ripon College) got the win with AJ Alessi (Marian University) and Connor Keating (Wayne State) closing out the game with scoreless innings.

The A’s head to Manitowoc with a 7-1 record.
